A toddler rushed to Starship children's hospital after it was thought he had taken a banned drug is likely to be discharged today.
It was suspected the three-year-old may have taken the illegal party drug Fantasy but police said today they may not know what he had taken until tests results were known.
"We don't know what the substance was. Tests have been carried out but we won't know the results of those tests for some time," police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said.
"The hospital has advised it could be anything -- from household cleaning products right through to any range of substances really," she said.
Police had told the Children Youth and Family service (CYF) but that was standard procedure, Ms Hegarty said.
She said police inquiries were continuing.
