KEY POINTS:
Police investigating the death of a Te Anau toddler say they are keeping an open mind on how the boy died.
Senior Sergeant Dave Raynes, of Invercargill police, said the investigation into the death of 18-month-old Shane Holden Price at his home last Tuesday afternoon was still some way from conclusion.
"We're still investigating and we've come to no conclusions at all," Mr Raynes said yesterday.
He said police were still evaluating some evidence and awaiting the results of forensic tests by Environment Science and Research scientists.
Police were expected to take several weeks to complete their inquiries.
Mr Raynes declined to comment on reports Shane drowned in a bath.
Shane's family said last week they were upset police were treating his death as suspicious.
Joann Dillon told the Southland Times her grandson had drowned in the bath. "It was an accidental death, every person should be aware. He drowned and that's all there is to it."
