A toddler has been air-lifted to hospital after being bitten on the back of her head by a farm dog.
The Tauranga-based TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a dairy farm on Matakana Island at 9pm last night, after the three-year-old girl was bitten by a farm dog during milking.
She suffered non life threatening puncture wounds to the back of her head and was transferred to Tauranga Hospital.
The helicopter service was again called the island this morning for two further emergencies.
A 17-year-old, who had fallen out of a chair after falling asleep in it, needed medical assistance after the fall aggravated an old back injury.
