A 12-year-old Lower Hutt boogie boarder was flown to Palmerston North Hospital after suffering spinal injuries at the weekend.
A Tranz Rail rescue helicopter spokesman said the accident occurred about 8.30 pm on Saturday on a farm in Otaki, where the boy had been sliding down a steep hillside on the board.
St John Ambulance officers were at the scene when it was decided to airlift the boy to the hospital.
