A series of roadside stops will be available for tired drivers on Waikato roads in an effort to combat driver fatigue.
Police, ACC, and local councils are targeting Auckland drivers travelling home from the central North Island skifields on State Highways 3 and 39.

ACC injury prevention consultant Lisa Taylor says the biggest mistake people make is not stopping when they are tired, thinking they can make it. She says most crashes happen within 20 minutes from home, or on open roads where it is easy to zone out.
Taylor says some people think nothing of getting into a car after a full working week and driving for up to five hours without a break.
