A Sydney inquest into the deaths of five journalists including New Zealander Gary Cunningham in East Timor in 1975 heard yesterday that Australian defence and intelligence officials pressured Foreign Minister Donald Willesee to withhold the news from their families on security grounds.
The testimony came from Geoff Briot, Mr Willesee's chief-of-staff.
