KEY POINTS:
The Thai tiler at the centre of corruption allegations against Labour MP Taito Phillip Field has had an application for a visa turned down.
One News reported last night that a letter it obtained showed the Department of Labour recommended applications for work visas by Thai tiler Sunan Siriwan and his wife be declined.
Mr Siriwan was originally offered a visa as a result of Mr Field's application on his behalf. They had six months to lodge their applications.
However, he did not immediately take it up and it was cancelled.
One News said the Department of Labour gave several reasons to turn down Mr Siriwan and his wife, including that they had both spent considerable periods living and working here unlawfully.
