A meeting of the New Zealand Abortion Providers (NZAP) was held for the first time in five years amid tight security in Wellington today.
About 300 medical and health professionals gathered at Te Papa for the day-long meeting, with a high security presence to ensure only those accredited gained entry to the conference.
Security guards kept careful watch of all members to ensure they displayed the necessary badge for entry into the rooms the seminars were being held.
NZAP chairwoman Kim Lund said the programme was not being made available to the public as it was for the medical professionals attending.
Ms Lund said she would comment on the meeting next week but said it was the first meeting of its kind in New Zealand in about five years.
Participants of the meeting came from around the country and included doctors, nurses and other health professionals.
