Thunderstorm warning for Northland

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Northland this afternoon.

A low moving over the North Island brought heavy rainfall and flooding to many areas overnight with 30 millimetres of rain to Whangarei between 6 and 7pm last night.

Met Service weather ambassador Bob McDavitt says the satellite is now showing more on the way. We will see part two of that low pan out this afternoon or this evening, dumping another 30 or 40 millimetres, particularly over Whangarei and the Northland region.
