Three men who took copper guttering from a Masterton house were each sentenced to 100 hours' community work in Masterton District Court on Monday.
They were Taongahuru Chevi Paewhenua, 23, and Himiona Haira, 21, who pleaded guilty to burglary, and Warren Gedye, 19, who pleaded guilty to receiving.
The court heard that one person climbed on to the roof of the Grant Cres house and kicked the guttering loose, where it was collected by two others and passed over a fence to Gedye. The three were ordered to pay $500 reparation at $20 a week.
A fourth accused has pleaded not guilty and was remanded until November.
Gedye was sentenced to a 25 further hours of community work and ordered to pay $373 for wilfully damaging a fence, and convicted and discharged for breaching bail, with Judge Chris Tuohy noting he had spent three days in custody.
