Police are searching for three men after a shotgun was fired at a house in what may have been a gang-related incident in the Wairarapa town of Carterton yesterday.
The men had visited a house in the town about 8.30am yesterday, and after an argument drove their car at a woman living there, missing her but damaging the house, Detective Senior Sergeant Sean Hansen said.
They returned shortly afterwards with a shotgun and fired a round at the house. A man inside received minor injuries from a shotgun pellet, Mr Hansen said.
The men, described as Maori, then drove off in what police believed was a red hatchback, and may be in Carterton or elsewhere in Wairarapa.
The Armed Offenders Squad searched three Carterton houses last night, and one person arrested on outstanding arrest warrants will appear in Masterton District Court tomorrow.
"We're following some very positive lines of inquiry but are seeking more information from the public," said Mr Hansen.
There appeared to have been gang involvement.
