KEY POINTS:
Three people have been rescued from the semi-submerged hull of their sinking boat off Long Bay on Auckland's east coast bays today.
Three coastguard boats, the police helicopter Eagle and the Westpac rescue helicopter responded after the trio, all believed to be adults, raised the alarm when the vessel started taking on water.
The three were all wearing lifejackets when they were found at the southern end of Long Bay sitting on the semi-submerged hull of their boat shortly before midday.
