Three people were rescued after their launch ran aground in the Hauraki Gulf last night.
The 36-foot vessel hit rocks near Great Barrier Island and began taking on water. The Westpac Rescue helicopter flew out to help them.
Crewman Paul Bryant says the people on board had managed to scramble onto rocks. Three were suffering minor injuries and were taken by the Coastguard to Great Barrier Island.
