South Canterbury was shaken by three earthquakes this afternoon
The first, at 1.10pm, measured 4.6 on the Richter scale.
It was located 10 kilometres southwest of Twizel at a depth of nine kilometres.
Shakes at 1.33pm and 1.34pm measured 4.3.
They were at a depth of five kilometres.
The shake at 1.33 was 20 kilometres southwest of Twizel, and the quake a minute later was located 10 kilometres southwest of Twizel.
