Three earthquakes shook the central North Island overnight.
All three quakes were centred 10km south-west of Turangi, GNS Science reported.
The first, measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale, struck at a depth of 4km, at 11.08pm yesterday.
Nearly 50 minutes later, a magnitude 3.4 quake, also centred at a depth of 4km, hit at 11.54pm.
A third quake, centred at a depth of 6km and measuring 3.8, struck at 2.31am today.
The quakes were reported to have been felt in the southern Taupo region .
