A man is being questioned over the stabbing of three people, including a 13-year-old boy, in Hamilton last night.
The three males, aged 13, 17 and 22, suffered stab wounds during a confrontation between two groups at the Bader St shops, police said.
Two discharged themselves from Waikato Hospital, while the third remains in a serious condition after overnight surgery.
Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Thornton said police and the Waikato Armed Offenders Squad searched a Melville property this morning for people and evidence related to the stabbing.
"The property was secured without incident and a man is currently being interviewed in relation to what happened."
He urged those who carried out the stabbing to turn themselves in or face more run-ins with police.
"Those involved in last night's events need to understand the degree of seriousness police are placing on what happened and they can expect more such visits and other measures as we work with the local community and partner agencies to resolve this matter."
To give information on the stabbing, call Hamilton Police Station on 07 858 6200 or the police anonymous CrimeStoppers number 0800 555 111.
