Police are looking for three people thought to be responsible for the daylight armed robbery of a Rotorua tavern.
Detective Jason Lock, of the Rotorua police, said three offenders, who were all thought to be men, went to Westbrook Tavern in the Westbrook Shopping Centre at 12.40pm on Saturday and threatened staff before leaving with cash. He said the trio were armed. The amount of money taken could not be revealed.
Mr Lock said no one was hurt and police wanted help from the public to identify those involved. Descriptions of the offenders were not available but police wanted help identifying the car the trio used.
Police wanted to hear from anyone who saw a dark-coloured vehicle leaving the shopping centre "at speed", around the time of the incident. Mr Lock said police could not reveal details of the weapon or information about the number of staff working at the time. The tavern owners declined to comment to The Daily Post.
Anyone with information should contact Rotorua police on (07) 349 9400 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
