A section of State Highway 25 in the Coromandel is closed after a crash in which three people were injured, one critically.
Senior Sergeant Chris Money, of Auckland, said a car and a logging truck collided on the highway near Whiritoa at 4.25pm today.
One of the occupants of the car was critically injured, the other moderately injured, and both were flown by rescue helicopter to hospital, Money said.
The truck driver received bruising. The state highway was closed between Parakiwai Quarry Rd and Gladstone Rd, he said.
Meanwhile, an overturned trailer caused congestion on the Southern Motorway at the Bombay Hills.
