A Christchurch postman has been sacked after three months of undelivered mail was found in his car.
A New Zealand Post security team began investigating after a pattern of complaints emerged about undelivered mail in suburban Parklands, The Press reported today.
"Approximately 3000 letters, cards and parcels have been recovered as a result of an internal investigation following customer inquiries about expected mail not turning up," New Zealand Post said yesterday.
Some of the mail had been "tampered with" and opened, and the matter was now with the police.
New Zealand Post said the recovered mail would be delivered today and tomorrow.
