Three men were admitted to hospital with stab wounds after a confrontation in the Napier suburb of Onekawa late yesterday afternoon.
Detective Senior Sergeant Nicholas Reid of Napier police said today that a 44-year-old man was in a critical condition in Hawke's Bay Hospital with stab wounds stab wounds and head injuries.
A 17-year-old man remains in hospital with a minor stab wound.
A 23-year-old man was treated and released and had been charged with assault.
He would appear in Napier District Court today.
Mr Reid said police had spoken with witnesses and were not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
