Three men have appeared in court today over the armed robbery of a Mexican tourist.
Vincent Ricki Evan Hajnal-Huata, 19 and Ferenc Hajnal-Huata, 22, brothers from the Northern Hawkes Bay settlement of Raupunga, are jointly charged with Napier man Hawi Robert Kingi, 17, with robbing the tourist of personal belongings valued at $2500.
The trio allegedly did so while armed with a pistol. Vincent Hajnal-Huata is also charged with unlawful possession of a .22 calibre bolt action rifle and possession of cannabis.
Kingi also faces a charge of burglary, and charges of intentionally damaging a memory stick and theft of a camera, both the property of New Zealand police.
As a result of the inquiry, Ferenc Hajnal-Huata's twin brother, Paris, was charged with cultivation and possession of cannabis.
