Three men have been charged with the murder of Gary Kimura, who died after an alleged assault at his Tauranga home in October last year.
Two unemployed Tauranga men and one unemployed Auckland man have been jointly charged with murder and will appear in Tauranga District Court on Tuesday, Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner said.
Another Tauranga man has been charged with accessory after fact to the wounding. He would also appear in court on Tuesday.
"Gary was assaulted after answering a knock at his door in the middle of one afternoon, it was a weekday, so it occurred at Gary's home address in Tauranga," Mr Turner said.
Mr Kimura was assaulted on October 5, but did not die until November 16, " which just happened to be his forty-fourth birthday".
