Three people died on the roads at the weekend - all in the North Island yesterday.
Police said one person died after a truck and car collided south of Kawakawa on State Highway 1, shortly after 6am.
About the same time, a man in his late teens or early 20s died when the car in which he was travelling rolled off Bush Rd, near Ngatea. Two other passengers were seriously injured.
A motorcyclist died after his machine and a four-wheel-drive collided at Te Teko, 20km southwest of Whakatane, shortly after 10.30am.
