One man is in hospital with serious head injuries and two other people have moderate injuries after the car they were travelling in went over a cliff between Queenstown and Cromwell this morning.
Emergency services were called to the incident on State Highway 6 at the Nevis Bluff just after 6.30am.
The car was was found upside down with three people trapped inside, said Southern Ambulance spokeswoman Robyn Vercoe.
The trio were freed and two males were transported by road to Queenstown Hospital, one with serious head injuries and the other with moderate injuries.
A third passenger, a female, was flown to Dunstan Hospital with moderate injuries, said Ms Vercoe.
