Waikato's rescue helicopter had to be sent on back to back flights this afternoon, after three people taking part in a motorbike event were injured in separate accidents.
The organised farm ride event was held off Highway 22 near Naike, west of Huntly.
The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was first called in to help a 42-year-old man who had crashed off his bike and suffered chest injuries.
He was flown to Waikato Hospital, but as he was being unloaded, rescue staff were notified of another patient.
A 47-year-old man had crashed and suffered a suspected spinal injury that required an air rescue.
