Police were alerted soon after.
Detective Sergeant Scott Armstrong of Waitemata police said the girl had needed medical treatment. She was being supported by her family, police and support services.
The car was described as a silver four-door hatchback and its driver a bearded Indian man in his 30s.
"We want to hear from anyone who was in the areas of the Glen Eden shops, Ken Maunder Park or the Auckland Zoo carpark between 11pm last Friday night and 2am on Saturday morning, Mr Armstrong said.
"If you also know anyone who matches this description and drives this type of car, please contact us immediately.
"We also want to hear from anyone who may have been offered a ride from a man fitting this description, regardless of the type of car he was in," Mr Armstrong said.
