Three people were flown to hospital by helicopter after a car crash in the South Island last night.
Emergency services were called to Lewis Pass Rd near Hanmer Springs about 9.30pm, where a car had rolled.
It had four occupants, three of whom needed medical treatment for serious injuries, a fire spokesman said.
Nobody was trapped and as St John paramedics helped the injured people, fire crews assisted with that and cleared space for a temporary helicopter landing pad.
Two helicopters flew the injured trio to hospital.
