KEY POINTS:
A 9.7m yacht sank near the entrance to Tutukaka Harbour last night after hitting rocks.
Three adults made it safely to shore in a dinghy just as the Coastguard arrived about 9.30pm, said duty officer Mike Lawrence.
The yacht was underwater except for the mast.
