The weekend road toll stood at three last night after fatal crashes in Waikato, South Auckland and near Thames.
The first death was a 51-year-old man who crashed his car into the Piako River in Morrinsville about 6pm on Friday. He lost control while going around a bend.
The second victim was a motorcyclist in his mid-20s who had a collision with a car on State Highway 25A near Kopu, southeast of Thames, about 3.40pm on Saturday.
In the third accident, early yesterday, one person died and another was hurt in a crash in Reagan Rd, Manukau.
