Three convicted of drink driving

The following were convicted of drink-driving after pleading guilty in Masterton District Court on Thursday before Judge Tom Broadmore.

Christopher Desmond Russel Stevens, 40, of Masterton, was convicted of drink-driving, third or subsequent offence, with a level of 796mcg. He was remanded for sentence on December 17.

Martin Shane Waaka, 45, of Upper Hutt, was convicted of drink-driving, third or subsequent offence, with a level of 887mcg. Waaka was convicted and remanded until December 6 for sentence.

Shane David Oliver, fisherman of Masterton, was sentenced to 120 hours' community work and disqualified from driving for 6 months.

Oliver pleaded guilty to the theft of car wheel rims, which he had sold as scrap, and to drink-driving.

The drink-driving charge related to Oliver being stopped by police and breath tested in Masterton on October 13.

He had blown 539mcg of alcohol per litre of breath. The legal adult limit is 400mcg.

Oliver was also ordered to pay reparation of $600 to the owner of the wheel rims.
