Three men have been charged with the rape of a 14-year-old girl at a Burger King restaurant last weekend.
The men, aged 17, 18 and 20, have been charged with sexual violation.
The girl told police she was raped in the male toilets at the restaurant in Lake Rd, Takapuna, on Sunday. Police interviewed several men earlier in the week and carried out a scene examination at the restaurant.
Detective Sergeant Nadene Richmond said the men faced a number of sexual violation and other related charges. They were due to appear in court yesterday. Burger King general manager Glenn Corbett welcomed the arrests. He said the company was working with police to ensure no similar incident ever happened again.
"We already do have comprehensive systems in place in all our restaurants to ensure the safety of our guests and we believe that these systems are adequate."
However, he said Burger King would take any action recommended by police.
