Three brothers are to face murder charges nearly a fortnight after a fight in South Auckland left a man dead.
Pilikitisua Neru, 46, died in hospital four days after a scuffle at a hall in the suburb of Mangere on August 16.
Two of the three brothers charged with his murder appeared in the Manukau District Court today and were remanded in custody until September for another hearing. Their names were suppressed.
The third brother had yet to be formally charged, said police.
Mr Neru was known as Pili to family and friends and is survived by his partner and their three children aged 21, 17 and 12 years.
Police said they still needed information about the fight and said anyone who was at the Nga Tapuwai Community Hall in the Southern Cross campus in Mangere on August 12 should ring 0508 OPNERU (0508 676 378).
Up to 300 people were thought to have been there.
