Police are investigating three arson attacks in Lower Hutt during the past week.
On Friday a fire was lit at the Avalon Scout Hall, where a scout camp was due to start that night. The fire left food and equipment stored at the hall for the camp unsalvageable.
Arsonists struck again on Saturday when a derelict building, the former Petone Technical Institute, was set alight.
"Both fires were lit in the early hours of the morning and cars were heard leaving the areas," said Detective Sergeant Scott Cooper.
A third fire was lit yesterday about 3pm, and caused damage to a deck and wall at a house in Petone. No one was injured.
Lower Hutt police are appealing for anyone with information about the fire to contact them.
