A 16-year-old and two men have been arrested after the kidnapping of a 28-year-old woman.
Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Thornton, of Hamilton, said police had been called out to a burglary on Wednesday to find that a group had assaulted a 24-year-old man and kidnapped the woman.
A police inquiry led to the trio at a Kerepehi address yesterday, Mr Thornton said.
"The woman was found safe and well along with her 44-year-old abductor," he said.
The 16-year-old and a 17-year-old man were also arrested.
The 44-year-old will appear in the Hamilton District Court today on kidnapping, wounding with intent and burglary charges, while the younger members of the group face wounding and burglary charges.
The 28-year-old man who was assaulted had received hospital treatment, Mr Thornton said.
The incident occurred in the suburb of Chartwell.
