KEY POINTS:
Three people have been arrested after neighbours reported hearing gun shots at a Northland address last night.
Inspector Earle McIntosh said the armed offenders squad were called to the Kamo house in Charles Street about 11pm.
Police faced a "barrage of abuse" from drunk people at the address, which made for a difficult investigation, he said.
A sawn off .22 calibre rifle was found at the address along with an assortment of live and spent shells.
Mr McIntosh said two people at the address would face firearm charges and one would face a disorder related charge.
Police were considering further charges.
Nobody was injured during the incident, Mr McIntosh said.
