Two appeals for funds to help three sisters who survived the Waimate fire which killed their parents and young brother have raised $67,365.
After the fatal fire on Wednesday morning, Waimate Mayor Craig Rowley set up the Everest Mayoral Support Fund at the ANZ Bank which late yesterday had received $54,164 in donations.
There was also an appeal on the Givealittle website which had raised $13,201.
Sisters Tulsi, 24, Manisha, 17, and Mamata, 11, managed to get out on to a roof and were rescued in Wednesday's fire in their apartment above the Everest Indian Restaurant the family operated in Waimate's main street.
They were taken to Timaru Hospital with smoke inhalation and minor cuts.
