Life Flight's familiar Westpac rescue helicopter received a shot in the arm from the Wairarapa public, with $195,625 raised across the Wellington and Marlborough areas during May's Chopper Appeal.
It costs the Life Flight Trust $2500 each time the helicopter makes its way to Wairarapa, and throughout the greater Wellington region it is summoned on average once every six hours.
Across New Zealand, $1,535,454 was raised, with funds distributed back to the 16 rescue helicopter services.
All money raised locally goes to the helicopter service in that locality.
Westpac employees undertook fundraising around the country and hit the streets in May and collected $127,857.
