Thousands on Queen St for Boobs on Bikes [+ pictures]

A massive crowd has turned out to watch the Boobs on Bikes parade on Auckland's Queen Street this afternoon.

The street was packed with a crowd of thousands which was thought to be bigger than that for the annual Santa Parade.

Topless porn stars on 26 motorbikes and two tanks were moving slowly down Queen Street to promote this weekend's Erotica Expo at the ASB Showgrounds in Greenlane.

The mood of the crowd, estimated to be around 80 per cent male, was light-hearted and there were no early reports of protests.

Police were at the scene, primarily to control traffic. Officers asked people to avoid the area if possible.

Many people were taking pictures on their cellphones.

Unions are also holding a rally at Aotea Square, halfway down Queen St, to protest against National MP Wayne Mapp's bill providing for a 90-day probation period for new employees.
