Eighty vehicles were seized and more than $47,000 in outstanding fines paid after a joint operation by the Justice Ministry and police in south Auckland.
During the operation on March 26 and 27, 2000 vehicles were checked to see if the registered owner had outstanding fines, Courts Minister Georgina te Heuheu said.
"Participating in joint operations with the police is an innovative way for the court to collect unpaid fines and reparation," she said.
"It's also an effective way to maintain the court's visibility and presence in the community."
