Suzuki is contacting almost 3400 Swift owners in New Zealand as part of a worldwide recall because of a faulty fuel pipe. The affected model, AZH4141, was sold here from 2011.
The move is a "precautionary recall'' after isolated cases of the car were reported to have a defect with a connecting rubber hose that caused slight leaking when the tank was full, said Suzuki Swift national technical advisor Matt O'Sullivan.
There were no reports of faulty cars in New Zealand.
Owners of the Swift model should contact their local dealer, who would check if the car was affected.
If so, the repair would be done free of charge.
