More than 2000 households in and around Auckland are without power this evening.
According to Vector, the largest outage, of 1340 households, is centred on the North Shore suburb Birkdale and extends to properties in neighbouring suburbs Glenfield, Northcote and Hobsonville.
An outage in the west Auckland suburb Swanson has also knocked out power to 577 households. Another 30 houses in Stillwater, to the north, are without power due to an outage there.
The city has been battered by strong winds and rain today.
