KEY POINTS:
A third of New Zealanders would prefer voting online in general elections rather than head along to the local polling booth, according to a study by the Electoral Commission.
The study found those under 30 years of age and on incomes of over $70,000 answered positively to the online question while a quarter of the respondents ruled the online option out.
It found that a critical age cut off at 60. People aged between 18 and 59 were generally positive about voting online while those over 60 were less supportive.
The study had a sample size of 1500.
