KEY POINTS:
According to a recent poll by Research New Zealand, almost a third of New Zealanders are not worried about nudity on the beach.
Research New Zealand director Emanuel Kalafatelis says 28 per cent of respondents were fine with the idea.
He says 26 per cent said nudity was okay in designated areas, and 45 per cent were opposed to it.
Mr Kalafatelis says the poll also found there was a significant difference of opinion between males and females as well as different age groups.
He says males and younger respondents were more likely to favour beach nudity. 37 per cent of respondents aged 15 to 29 favoured baring it all compared with only 18 per cent of those over the age of 60.
Mr Kalafatelis says the poll found that overall almost a third of New Zealanders think nudity on the beach is okay.
