KEY POINTS:
Waikato police have charged a third man with murder following the fatal drive-by shooting at the weekend.
Father-of-two Desmond Arahanga was shot from a passing car as he stood outside a house in the tiny settlement of Waharoa, 7km north of Matamata, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Detective Inspector Peter Devoy said an unemployed Waikato man was arrested today and jointly charged with Mr Arahanga's murder.
He appeared in Hamilton District Court and was remanded in custody to a future date.
The other already in custody are Jared Huritau Apiata, 23, and Hari Beaudean Poulson, 26.
Apiata reappeared in Hamilton District Court today and was further remanded in custody until October 7 for a pre-depositions hearing.
Poulson was due to reappear in Hamilton District Court tomorrow.
Mr Devoy said police were continuing with their inquiries and warned anyone who may be harbouring anyone linked to the crime they would face "very serious consequences".
