At Monterey Ave in Otahuhu, thigh-high water has caused problems for 12 property owners.
Aimee Marsters said one of her sons was able to get to school this morning and her husband drove his van through the water.
But a taxi collecting her 14-year-old daughter with special needs was unable to get through.
Two trucks have been pumping water from the cul-de-sac since 10am, and doing return trips to dump water into an estuary that leads to the Tamaki River.
Marsters said there had been no damage to homes from the water.
