Masterton police say a pair of thieves attempted to smash their way through the back door of a small bakery in a residential area of the town late on Monday night.
A Masterton bakery has been broken into - with the thieves only making off with three drinks.
Police said two thieves tried to break in through the back door of Lansdowne Sammies at about 9.55pm on Monday.
Security cameras showed they then gained access to the bakery by smashing the glass on the front door.
Once inside, they rummaged through drawers and cupboards before stealing three drinks from the fridge.
Unnerved by the alarm, they fled the scene, with one seen jumping over a back fence.
Police said a car might have been waiting outside.
Both thieves were wearing gloves. One had a black balaclava and a backpack.
It was the second break-in at the bakery in a year.
It was believed the thieves may have been looking for cigarettes, which are not kept on site overnight.
