KEY POINTS:
Two youths accused of theft ran into a police dog training session in Rotorua yesterday and were initially sent on their way before being tracked down.
As the officers were finishing up, they were approached by a man whose child had been robbed of shoes and a skateboard.
The police tracked the 12-year-olds using the dogs and arranged for them to be referred to Youth Aid.
