KEY POINTS:
Katelyn Scrivener was one of 100 Auckland children who on Saturday received a bike for being role models at their schools and in their communities.
Variety CEO Lorraine Taylor said for many children the bike was their first. "This recognition not only benefits the child concerned but provides an incentive for their peers to follow in their footsteps and become good school and community citizens."
Another 300 bikes will be distributed around the country this week.
