New Zealanders celebrated Good Friday in their own different ways, with churchgoers taking part in traditional processions and hundreds of children in Auckland scrambling for chocolate Easter eggs.
Helicopters hovering over North Harbour Stadium, the Auckland Domain and the Vodafone Events Centre dropped thousands of eggs on waiting children, who then raced to pick up as many as possible.
The spectacle was part of the annual Egg Day Out, a free event organised by Equippers Church and Skywork Helicopters that saw more than 30,000 Cadbury Easter eggs given out, with donations supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
And in Mt Roskill, Danny Tolentino and Junn Pascual helped carry a wooden cross during the Auckland Filipino Catholic Community Way of the Cross march through Winstone Park.
