Northbound Auckland traffic backed up beyond Mt Wellington after a six-car crash at Spaghetti Junction blocked several lanes yesterday.
The accident occurred about 1.50pm between the Symonds St and State Highway 16 off-ramps. It closed two of the three northbound lanes and caused a traffic jam stretching south beyond the Mt Wellington interchange.
Traffic began flowing again on the Southern Motorway several hours later. The New Zealand Transport Agency said emergency services responded to the crash, all three lanes reopened shortly after 3pm and traffic was flowing freely at 4.20pm for the rush-hour commute. Ambulance services did not attend and it is understood there were no injuries.
